“For those who knew or even met the amazing soul that was Rick Chavez, be it through his music or by acquaintance, you would know what a great loss this is to us. This cuts through the hearts of so many. He will be greatly missed.” – Drive bassist Michael Anthony Guerrero

“Grieving once again, the loss of a childhood friend, a brother. Devastated, not only by memories, but of many journeys traveled and not traveled.” -- Drive drummer Valentin San Miguel

“Drive will always be a part of my DNA. Rick's passionate, relentless guitar cries are embedded in my soul. His friendship secured in my heart. I will always miss and love you forever, Brother.”
-- Drive guitarist Mercy Valdez

"The magic is in what's real. You were absolutely that, Rick Chavez!"
--Drive guitarist Mike Conde

"There's truly something to be said about a man who always had that look in his eye every time you saw him. The look of the gears turning constantly but not in the way you think, because they weren't judging...that's a rarity!! He would always listen fully and give you his most sincere thought on whatever the matter. We didn't always agree. I would sometimes get emotional with our convos, but it's those moments I will cherish for the rest of my life!! He never made me feel anything but love from him. Always told me I was the most beautiful girl!! Lol!! " Mija, I got your back no matter what, just say the word!" He would tell me that at least every other time I saw him. Would even get a phone call ending with those same words. I love you so much and I know you got my back!!" --Amanda Chavez

“You were and will always be by far the coolest person I've ever known. I will forever cherish every memory in every moment I was blessed to share with you. Thank you for showing me the guitar, thanks you for teaching me those chords, thank you for all the advice, thank you for existing, and most of all thank you for being my Uncle. I'll miss you so much. I'll carry you with me in my heart till we meet again” – Max Chavez

Been struggling with the words to say befitting my brother Rick Chavez, there sure ain't enough space here on this post. A musician’s musician, a mentor to me as a friend and person, and he believed in me. He sure made anyone who played with him a better player, no doubt about it. We sure made some great tunes together, that we were very proud of. It was an honor to be your band mate, but more so to be your friend. Give David a hug for me. Gonna miss you dude. Till I see you on the other side. Much Love too you my Friend” --Drive drummer Carlos Cervantes

“it was an honor to share the stage with you a true musician who brought out the best in all of us and these memories I will never forget, until we meet again, rest in peace my friend” --Drive bass player Michael Ribeiro
